A Friendly Dog?

<a href="
An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; He then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the Hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour.

This continued off and on for several weeks. Curious I pinned a note to his collar: ‘I would like to find out whom the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.’

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar: He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 – he’s trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?’

Is There Life After A Layoff…

By Ed O’Keefe

…The possibility of losing 22 of the bureau’s top 50 managers threatens to complicate the upcoming decennial headcount, which faces a host of other challenges. In the next six months, the bureau will begin mobilizing the largest temporary civilian workforce in U.S. history to help complete the 2010 Census. Next year’s count, which is expected to cost at least $14 billion, will help reshape congressional districts in time for the 2012 elections…

Mars

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular!
This month and next, Earth is catching up with
Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter’s gravity tugs on
Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification, Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye.

Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m.

That’s pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month.

Make sure you share the experience with your children and grand children. NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN!

Clarification on Previous Post – We The People Stimulus Package…

I just want to make it clear that when I posted the “We The People Stimulus Package” video, I WAS NOT, in any way, referring to the Obama administration. I believe that Obama “inherited” all the points that were made in that video from the PREVIOUS Administrations (PLURAL). Obama is just trying to figure the mess out that was laid before him.

It has come to my attention that some of those in the Republican party, as well as a few Democrates, are catering this video off as if all the grievances mentioned where Obama’s fault. I think that is simply stupid thinking, and I would hope that people would know better. kcm/Crikket

Also, Obama’s words about Health Care Ring True – “And don’t be fooled by folks trying to scare you saying we can’t change the health care system. We have no choice but to change the health care system because right now it’s broken for too many Americans.”

Soldier Gives His Take On The Michael Jackson News

Young Soldier Gives His Take On The Michael Jackson News…Respect & Honor All Veterans Past & Present!!!

Written by a young soldier serving his third tour of duty in Iraq; he gives his take on the Michael Jackson news.

Okay, I need to rant. I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael Jackson. As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villain to many people. I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn’t the point of my rant.

Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the country was to ENTERTAIN people. The American people find the need to flock to a memorial in Hollywood, and even Congress sees the need to hold a “moment of silence” for his passing?

Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he’s a freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What about all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war, still
raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the United States of America. Where is their moment of silence? Where are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over them because they made the ultimate sacrifice? Why is it when a Soldier dies, there are more people saying “good riddance,” and “thank God for IEDs?” When did this country become so calloused to the sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off their deaths, and instead, throw themselves into mourning for a “Pop Icon?”

I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS for Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They need to PUBLICLY recognize every life that has been lost so that the American people can live their callous little lives in the luxury and freedom that WE, those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for them.

But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit songs that the world will listen too. We only shed our blood, sweat and tears so that people can enjoy what they have.

Sorry if I have offended, but I needed to say it. Remember these five words the next time you think of someone who is serving in the military: “So that others may live…” By Isaac, The Young Soldier

“…was also the creed of the Air Rescue & Recovery Service during Vietnam & is still today. As an airborne firefighter, along with our fellow crew members, these words still rings true in our hearts today.” By FYI
