The protests in Wisconsin are heating up. Last week as I was writing about Egypt and the protestors there and I made the statement are you watching GOP/TP? At that time I did not think a protest was so close to home but I did say (many times) that people can be pushed only so far before they push back. Well GOP/TP the people are pushing back. The democratic State Senators left town denying the Republicans a quorum, so no vote. There are still protesters in the street. This is not going to stop here. I think this scenario is going to be played out at many more States and there is a real chance some my get ugly.

As I wrote yesterday, there was no Budget Crisis in WI. When Governor Walker took office his own independent budget office said they were on target for a 120 Million Dollar Surplus for the year. First thing Gov. Walker did was to give 140 Million Dollars in tax cuts to Corporations, and then he claims a 137 Million dollar shortfall, one of which he created not the unions. The Unions had nothing at all to do with the current shortfall. This is all about breaking the Unions and the backs of the Middle Class. This Governor is running a fraud against his own people. To make it worse he wants to do away with the Unions rights to any collective bargaining at all, period, none. Dictator Walker is making a mistake and grossly underestimating the people in his state. He is using the job cuts to pay for the Tax Cuts to the Corporations and it has nothing to do with the unions. No budget crisis just a scam to get the unions to pay for the tax cuts for the corporations and thereby breaking the unions. The same scenario is also playing out in Ohio. What is the common factor? Collective Bargaining is being attack in both cases to weaken or destroy unions.

And the hypocrisy continues, a quote from House Speaker Boehner Thursday in an interview with Hannity: “The only people cheering for government shutdown around here are Democrats, led by Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer. There’s been no talk about shutting the government down on our side. Our goal here is to reduce spending. It isn’t to shutdown the government”.

I guess these guys did not get the message.

Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR), Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA, Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), Rep. Steve King (R-IA),

Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MIRep, Alan Nunnelee (R-MI), Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX], Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX),

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL).

All of them have said shutting down the government is a viable even desirable option this week. This is a bad idea on so many fronts. Once again the GOP/TP is looking short term for immediate gratification and not the long term health of this country. They fail to see beyond the 2012 election which is what is driving this agenda to shut down the government. It did not work when Newt did it and cost the government 800 Million dollars. In this fragile economic environment the damage will be many times that number. This will have a negative impact on this country and it will be a sot heard around the world. Mark my words on this. Regardless of the spin from the right, the GOP/TP is going to be responsible for this. They (GOP/TP) talk about compromise as long as that compromise includes all of their demands. That is not a compromise that is a threat, pure and simple.

An interesting point was raised on the Rachael Maddow show last night. I said this pandering around with the spending cuts was what the GOP/TP wanted because it diverts the attention of the people away from creating Jobs and improving the Economy. Two things the GOP/TP does not want to talk about. RM offers another reason. There are over 400 Amendments to the Spending Bill and each one needs to be debated. Right now the House is not setting any speed records and we do not know how long this is going to take and March 4th is just around the corner. Is Speaker Boehner trying to run out the clock? I do not know, interesting point though. What if this is not settled by the 4th then what? Does this give the GOP/TP a CYA position?
